For this event a range of employers and sectors held live interactions with students from across campus at Myerscough College as they entered the virtual conference space provided by vFairs. Students were able to ask questions around pathways into industries and look at skills needed from relevant employers. There were conference-style virtual talks happening throughout the event, looking at bespoke content such as faculty area insights. The students were able to take away information by collecting employer resources for their virtual swag bag. These could be downloaded as needed at a later date.
The reason for this event was to ensure students at Myerscough could still access local employers and a world of work. Jackie Hough, Careers Leader at Myerscough said the virtual platform was easy to use and engaging for guests/students. She also commented that it was excellent having employers and students having virtual chats, some in a group and very importantly, many on a one-to-one basis. There were keynote speakers giving lectures live on the day with the added benefit that the recordings of these talks are also available after the event. Another added bonus of the virtual platform is that even after the “live day”, students still get the opportunity of 1:1 interactions with employers, via a post event chat function.

“A great opportunity in lockdown to still get to speak to so many different employers.”
“Glad to hear it went well and looked really good, so you all did a great job – thank you. There were plenty of questions for us and chat too, so all great.”
“Thanks for the event, it was excellent. We had quite a bit of footfall though the booth. Loved the booth by the way and the event set up is the best we have attended in the virtual world.”
