Our Aims
Lancashire Careers Hub has grown from an initial 24 schools in 2016 to one which now supports 154 secondary schools, colleges and special schools across Lancashire with a primary aim to improve the career prospects of thousands of young people.
Lancashire Careers Hub is part of a national Hub network driven by the Careers and Enterprise company and locally through Lancashire Enterprise Partnership and Inspira which strengthens the relationship between education and business to ensure Lancashire has the future skilled workforce it needs to support its growing economy.
All the schools and colleges within Lancashire Carers Hub have a shared vision of how they will work together to improve outcomes for the young people in their area.
Careers Hub Aims
The Lancashire Careers Hub aims to:
- Build capacity within and between the Lancashire Careers Hub schools and colleges to deliver a broad and high-quality career guidance for all students.
- Support and challenge Careers Hub schools and colleges to meet the eight Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Careers Guidance sharing practice developed through the Wave 1 Lancashire Careers Hub across to Wave 3 schools and colleges.
- Identify the common problems and barriers to the implementation of the Gatsby Benchmarks and collectively identify solutions and opportunities to overcome these issues.
- Actively engage business, employers, providers and relevant stakeholders to enable young people to understand local LMI, explore career opportunities and expand their networks through a wide range of encounters and experiences.
- Ensure the work of Lancashire Careers Hub is fully integrated and contributes towards Lancashire's wider future skills priorities
- Utilise Compass audit tools to enable schools to track and report on careers interventions including at an individual student level. Use gap analysis to identify and inform priorities.
- Develop the Careers Hub Team’s expertise to ensure consistent and effective support and information is disseminated to stakeholders across Lancashire with the impact measured.
