Green Edge was set up as a result of a survey of 750+ UK organisations playing some role in the green skills supply chain sponsored by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation (a David Sainsbury charity).

One request from the survey was the creation of way of sharing what is happening with green skills, jobs, careers, and employment.

The Green Edge is operated on the Substack platform on a fully accessible and free subscription basis. Each week sees the Green Edge produce a post and podcast (15 mins, which is now listened to in 49 countries), and then monthly release a round-up of reports, and also operate an open data portal too.

Materials have been drawn upon in the development of Local Skills Improvement Plans, the setting-up and operation of the IEMA Green Careers Hub, the education of the 1400 staff of City and Guilds.
